Rememberings

Remember when the car sped off our lane?
Our tires slipped on a road doused with rain,
And in a little town on the coast of Maine
The world conspired to empty your veins

Sirens wailed and cold light flashed in the night
And pain numbed my head, blurred my failing sight
Yet I called on all I knew that was right
And asked you to try, and asked you to fight
