Blackness

I have a dark side to my sunny smiles
This rose has thorns, this car has miles
I polish my glass to shine for the world
But underneath my blackness is unfurled

See, underneath there are sticky stains
That like to pour vinegar on all my pains
For my dark side haunts me and tells
Me that nowhere my heart safely dwells

Some days I gather up every weary bone
And think to myself, it’s good to be alone
The darkness is strong enough to swallow
Anyone who would dare to follow
